Kiersten Jakobsen
Specialties: Power Yoga, HOT Pilates
After a debilitating spinal injury, Kiersten turned her sights on true and lasting rehabilitation. She has dedicated her life to balanced, holistic movement, seeking knowledge from anatomy and kinesiology experts around the world. In every group class, she strives to share that knowledge to the best of her ability.
Kiersten is a certified 500-hour Yoga Alliance Experienced Registered Yoga Teacher (E-RYT 500) and Yoga Alliance Continuing Education Provider (YACEP) who has logged thousands of hours of study with movement specialists across the globe. Her advanced knowledge of anatomy — particularly the body’s matrix of fascia — informs her approach to and sequencing of all physical activity, from yoga to Pilates to HIIT and resistance training.
She has completed multiple 300-hour advanced yoga teacher trainings (three 300-HR with Dylan Werner of One Movement Yoga and one 300-HR with Briohny Smyth and Dice Iida-Klein).
In addition, Kiersten is certified in Anatomy Trains Modules I and II with a focus on myofascial anatomy and functional patterning. She studied fascia and movement in a week-long hands-on training with Tom Myers and Karin Gurtner, and spent eight days in the Pyrenees Mountains learning breathwork and deliberate cold exposure therapy from Wim Hof.
Kiersten completed the 102 Movement & Mobility Experience with Dr. Kelly Starrett, combining analysis of sub-optimal positioning with personalized solutions to return athletes to peak performance.
Kiersten is a certified Functional Range Conditioning Mobility Specialist (FRCms), and is certified in mat Pilates and Hot Pilates.
She leads workshops, retreats, and trainings throughout the year.
Kiersten holds a PhD from Stanford University and currently works at a startup dedicated to mitigating climate change.
