Providing Yoga to the community here in Palo Alto for 30 years, YogaSource has been an amazing presence with an incredible story. Read on to learn more about who we are and how we came to be!

On the occasion of our 30th anniversary, I am moved to express my heartfelt gratitude to our remarkable community whose unwavering support has made these three decades possible.

Reflecting on our beginnings, I recall our modest space on Alma Street, with its slant in the floor and the plastic drapes that held in the heat —(a special thanks to Kent B for that clever solution!).
During those first few years, Lisa, Johnny, Gary, Steve, and Jeff comprised our group of core regulars. Their passion and dedication were my inspiration to keep going.  Working privately with Kathleen and Laurene was also crucial during those early days, and I am grateful for that opportunity.

As Johnny and Lisa spread the word about our classes at their running club, our class sizes grew, and vital members like Mark S., Kevin, Kira, Mary Lynn, Mara, Linda, and Susan Fox joined us.

Kevin was instrumental in moving us to the Hamilton Avenue space after 7 years on Alma street.  He is also credited with upgrading our administrative system from paper and pencils, 3×5 cards, and a bowl for payments, to using online software and credit cards. Thank you, Kevin!

Our studio not only expanded in size but also in spirit, nurturing a community dedicated to the emotional and physical benefits of a regular yoga practice. This would not have been possible without the support and hard work of our front desk staff as well as our team of exceptionally talented instructors. YogaSource has been fortunate to have exceptionally knowledgeable, inspiring, creative, passionate, and dedicated instructors throughout the years, as well as managers and front desk staff that care deeply about our community and the well-being of our studio.

A special tribute goes to Hillary, our studio manager of over ten years. Her foresight at the onset of Covid led us to suspend in-person classes early on, and, with the support of Katy, she transitioned all classes to an online format thereby ensuring continuity for our community and allowing us to persevere through challenging times.  Hillary’s leadership has been nothing short of visionary. YogaSource would not be here today were it not for Hillary and her wise guidance and thoughtful decision-making over the years.

Thank you also goes to Brian K., Peter Z., Roger, Stephanie, Georges, and our supportive landlord, Jim, for their roles in sustaining our studio during those most challenging years of Covid.

There are numerous people deserving of recognition, yet to name everyone would fill pages and take days. However, I must express my heartfelt gratitude to a handful who have been pivotal in their support.

With all of my heart, my deepest appreciation goes to my person, Mara, for being there through everything and all of it. Here.

To Johnny, for being Johnny, for his loyalty, humor, and friendship for all these years.

To Hillary, for running the studio with the warmth, wisdom, and brilliance that she does.

To Zina for infusing so much love into everything that she does at the studio.

And to Robin, Jennifer, Linda and Steve, Tina, John and Dee, Bailey, Lindsay, Lucy G, Oralia and Miguel, Mark S, Hilary H, Jake W.  – profound gratitude.

Lastly, to each person who graces our studio with a commitment to healing and to supporting one another in the process, you are the heartbeat of YogaSource.

It is you, our most extraordinary community, that has shaped YogaSource over the years and has made it the very special place that it is today.
Here’s to many more years of growth, community, support, and wellness at YogaSource!

I’ve done yoga in a lot of different environments, but have never so regularly been surprised and impressed by the quality of teaching provided at this studio. YogaSource in three words: Supportive. Challenging. Comfortable.
