Lorraine Tam

Specialties: Yin Yoga

Lorraine Tam, E-RYT 500, has been teaching yoga since 2004. She came to yoga after many years as a dancer. After completing her initial 200-hour yoga training at White Lotus Foundation, she continued her studies well past the 500-hour level with Functional Anatomy Specialist Paul Grilley. She is a senior student and assistant of Suzee and Paul Grilley. Other influential teachers include Ganga White, Sarah Powers, Gil Hedley and Jai Uttal.

Lorraine holds degrees in Biology, Dance and Cytopathology. She worked in cancer research and diagnosis for many years before switching gears to teach yoga. She enjoys teaching students of all ages and abilities. She is a guest yoga instructor in Palo Alto High School’s Dance Program and is well known in the Silicon Valley for her therapeutic Assisted Yin Yoga Sessions.

Lorraine’s graceful, flowing Vinyasa classes place equal emphasis on developing strength, balance, flexibility, breath awareness and mental focus. Her calming Yin classes release deeply held stress and tension, improve flexibility and harmonize chi (energy) flow. Lorraine hopes students will use yoga to get more in touch with their bodies and, on a deeper level, become more aware of what goes on in the mind.
